Photos from Indoc

Well, Last year 1st and 3rd Co.s were commanded by former Marine Corps drill instructors wheras 2Co.s company commander seemed a little more "laid back"
how's that for an upside?

Fourth Company is Jones Hall (John Paul Jones). Company Commander is K.L. Gates (KP Grad).

Thanks, KPMarineOpsMom--that sounds like a better upside than jacuzzis!

well the thing is, while 2 co doesn't have AC, some of the coolest kids in the regiment are from 2 co. in the slightly cooler months i find myself there almost every day. they won Honor Company last year during our indoc. i don't know who their CO is now since CDR Gundy left. he was amazing. i'm not in 2 co, but i still knew him well enough to have great respect for him.
2 co isn't a bad place to be, your kid will just need to make friends with someone in 3rd or 4th co.
: )

Thank you for that information--it's a good reminder about what is important about the company. I appreciate your taking the time.

Boo hoo - no photos from 07/07/07???? Also, do the kids go to church during indoc?

I know my son did...especially during indoc...great place to chill and get away from the di's..They can't hastle you there. Is today the day they can call home? or is it next Sunday...be sure not to miss this call . It is soooo important to your son or daughter

I am bummed about no day 3 photos. I spent most of yesterday checking and rechecking and checking and... This must stop. I told myself this morning that I wouldn't sit at the computer all day obsessing over whether photos have been posted or not. But here I am. Anyone else just as whacko?

I understood next Sunday to be the phone call day but I will have my house phone forwarded over to my cellular in case I do pry myself away from the computer. After all, I do have other children to tend to and a husband at sea.

You are not alone! I was so bummed no photos from yesterday. We were spoiled with the Day 1 & 2 being posted so fast!

Next Sunday is the phone call. Does anyone have any idea about the time they may call? I'll be driving the Church Youth Group back from a conference in Atlanta and I want to know when to expect that I have to pull the bus over!

From what I remember during my INDOC we called anytime of the day during Sunday really. From late morning through the afternoon in particular. As you may or may not know each platoon has a couple ADI's (assistant drill instructor?), one EDI (experienced DI...they march them around), and a SDI (senior drill instructor). The SDI runs the show and sets up the calling thing. My SDI was pretty cool with the phone call, they only allowed 5 mins, but if you didn't speak to your parents when he said we were calling he'd make a note of it and then later at night he'd let you try again...I think all the SDIs do that, so they should get a hold of you or someone in your family. Anyway...

Good to know Davy...thanks for the info. I love it that there are cadets sharing their inside knowledge with us at home!

My understanding, too, is that the call will be next Sunday. Whacko? My 17-year-old son asked me before church this morning if I plan to do anything but sit at the computer from now on. I used to be on the kids to get off the computer and stop spending so much time on e-mail, Instant Messenger, etc.--now they can't get on because I'm checking for photos!!

No not wacko, at least no more than the rest of us were during indoc for our kids. My crew used to say I was obsessed and nobody got anything cooked or cleaned during indoc. I suspect it was true. Plus in those days the best method of communicating after indoc was by instant messaging on the commuter soooo that meant even more time at the computer. Needless to say I got a new cushy computer chair before too long.

Yes, me too! I'm going crazy checking all day long. It is so true. I'm not getting anything else done either.

Some of you probably picked up the letter from the Commandant that was handed out at the Museum. It does say our plebes will call on the 15th and the 22nd. If any of you did not get that letter let me know and I will e-mail it to your personal address. Kayleen

LOL - I had my husband read your entries because he thinks I'm LOSING it. I spend HOURS on-line in search of any bit of info I can find. It's therapeutic I guess. At least I know I'm in good company and misery loves company. My heart still aches. I can't wait to hear from him. So it's now Sunday afternoon and still no photos. Could it be that there won't be any 2 days in a row? I hope not!

Please read everything below with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

"<f5-refresh> I am SO glad to know <f5-refresh> that I am not the only <f5-refresh> one who is going to the usmma.edu/parents <f5-refresh> website and clicking <f5-refresh> on the refresh button ON OCCASION <f5-refresh> . </f5-refresh></f5-refresh></f5-refresh></f5-refresh></f5-refresh></f5-refresh>

I am CERTAINLY NOT <f5-refresh> addicted by any stretch! I know I can stop <f5-refresh> anytime I want. I also went to kponline.shutterfly.com <f5-refresh> since some very nice mid was quick to post there as well. </f5-refresh></f5-refresh></f5-refresh>

I, however am VERY productive! <f5-refresh> I have gotten up from the computer several times. Walked clear to the fridge and made a <f5-refresh> wonderful meal out of..... ummmm, whatever it was I could find. My mid's little brother will NOT starve <f5-refresh> (I've shown him how to boil water and where a case of Ramen noodles are!) .

Oh my goodness. It does looked like I'm hooked, and being cut off cold-turkey from the photos! I have to be grateful they admin is posting SO many. Just think how only 50 or 200 across the whole Indoc period must have been!

For a bit of relief, you can go to the Midshipmen Life>Indoc section>Class of 2008 Indoc (bottom)> at google error page, hit F5 and pick> Daily Photo Page (on right), and see what the kids were doing each day back then. Now, imagine your kid's face on each photo.
Or, use this link. Daily Photo Pages

Good luck to us, and to THEM.

Hmmm, it's been a while.
<f5-refresh>
Aw, nuts. Nuttin. :(</f5-refresh>

I wonder if the mids are still taking photos, and leaving them at the technology helpdesk to be posted to the academy website.?. I bet they're gone for the weekend, and will be back Monday.

Maybe we'll have a few days posted by Monday around lunch or something !
(Hey, I can dream, can't I ! Who knows, maybe it's a good guess!)

LOL! Ok you photo junkies. I have a short video clip that my son's friend made during the last portion of the lunch muster. If you want to see it, go to:

Maybe that will at least be a little fix.

Thanks, suzannegra!!!! That's mine in the center back with the orange polo!

that was...the worst cadence i ever heard
