Along with 4th co.
But no worries.
There's a NC kid in 1st company who is a popular subject of photos.

I'm adopting him now!

But still, I love seeing what they're all up to. :D

You know I wondered about that! All of those photos and I saw my son maybe in 5 shots that were take in 2 of the 5 days. The other days no photos at all. Not complaining. Like you, I like to see what they are doing. It's a hoot that my son is learning fine china/table etiquette - I LOVE IT. He wouldn't listen to me.

Thought I recognized that kid to.

And I had not seen all the pictures before I made the last post....thanks for the pictures of 3rd. I especially liked the chapel pictures and them enjoying so R & R eating junk food.

The breakfast looked great....I better not hear any complaints unless those pictures were altered before posting. :)

Can the etiquett teacher go over the rules of writing home?

It looks like the guys' hair is starting to grow back in! That's nice to see. My husband had a 6 hour layover at Kennedy this afternoon...said he wished he could go stand by gate at KP and hope for a real glance, not just an online photo! Supportmom, I wish Miss Manners would teach some letter-writing skills, too! Still no letter here!

Just curious here...My son graduated in June, and last INDOC(06), 3 midshipmen were responsible for taking pictures, covering all angles, instead of relying on just one person to assume the awesome task of capturing identifiable faces every day. This year, I saw just one name mentioned for photos, or contacting with questions. Any one of the upperclassmen know if just one person has been responsible for the official website pictures?

MountaineerMom

You guys are a hoot. Where were ya'll when it was just me and the four kids going in on here back in 09. They left & I talked to myself everyday till they got back. So glad you guys are keeping a wonderful sense of humor! :D

Loved the pix. I saw some tired faces but they sure do look good. I thought some of the kids were looking at the place setting with longing that there was no steak & baked potato on the china. That had to be a visual kind of torture.

Besides not having received a single letter (girlfriend now has 7) or a phone call (girlfriend got the call on Sun,) I didn't see my son in ANY of the photos from Chapel. I have a feeling my husband was happy to be at Kennedy today, on way to Kiev for the rest of the week. When "mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." At least he'll have a break from the daily anticipation of new photos posted online and the mailman's arrival! He'll be back in time to eagerly await the ringing of the phone on Sunday!

I'd either, A- Make the girlfriend live with me until this was all over or, B - Have the girlfriend killed. :D

LOL Jam...are you going to be at parent's weekend or do I have to make a trip to SC to actually meet the infamous Jamzz??

Or we could meet in Richmond, VA and tie up the girfriend for the next several months...:D

Your son forgets...you will be the grandmother one day! :)

Tut Tut, ladies. Bad form.
Just go to post office and fill out forwarding of girlfriend's mail to your address. See how long it takes for the GF to figure it out. But at least you'll be getting your kids' letters in your mailbox. ;)
DO NOT open the letter (that would be a federal offense).

However, if I recall properly, Jamzmom said something LAST YEAR about steam. :p Hmmm.

Ah yes! Let me fill you in on the letter count rolling in from my candidate....

It would be.... (drumroll, please) ZERO (Ta Daaa! -- Hey, wait a minute!)

The preceeding post was made entirely in jest. I have the utmost respect for the fine civil servants of the United States Postal Service, and would in no way encourage anyone to delay, circumvent, or otherwise tamper with mail of any sort. This post is made for entertainment purposes. Any similarity between events depicted in this post and the lack of mail from any particular USMMA candidate is purely coincidental.

Please note, no real posts were harmed in the making of this statement, although a number of electrons have been significantly inconvenienced.

(We now return you to your thread, already in progress)

FYI - Just so you don't think they are smiling 'cause they are having fun - I found out the photographer has been coaching them to smile because "the parents will be looking at these"! LOL

We are bringing the girlfriend (the one with all the mail) up for Parents' Week-end; she's adorable. And, although son wasn't seen in CHAPEL photos, he is seen SMILING BIG in lots of others. It looks like summer camp??? He's the smiling goalie in the blue bathing cap in the game of water polo??? Or aqua soccer? Can't tell which.

I was just kiddin' RichVaMom. I promise. The girlfriends that attend Parent's Week-end are just as amazed by the Academy & their bright shiny new Plebe as the parents. They will enjoy everything so much.

Suzannegra, I won't be up for this one but do look around for our SC assoc. folks & say hello. They don't allow me near Plebes as I try to bust them outta there BEFORE the football game. That is the longest foorball game ever knowing that the car is parked so close.....

Zonker I'm so glad I met you at Indoc! I can put the face to the writing, and can see you chuckling as you type!

Jamzmom you must love having all the parents to spar with!

Noooo. The photographer was on the sailing ship for lots of Day 13, with 4th company. And my kid USED to be in 4th. But there's not a single shot of him in the whole series? It's like shooting fish in a barrel .

By the way photographer, I thought there were some VERY good portraits. But unless they dressed my kid up in the yellow manikin suit and threw him overboard.(the man-overboard dummy). . I guess he's just serving time in the brig of that ship w/captain Jack Sparrow.

Oh well, lots of good shots. Kudos everyone.
I'll just go back a re-read THE letter (which finally came).

Zonker!....no photos of my kid either! I started getting worried that he was sick or something until I read this. Between Indoc photo hunting and mailbox retrievals, I'm finding myself quoting you daily: "RATS!- nuttin'!"

When our son called on Sunday he told us he was in 4th co 2nd platoon. Our son wasn't in any of the photos either. Maybe not his platoon. :(

Mrs Old Air Force

OK. I feel better. Bit by Bit I'll put information together.

"Photographer! Get your gear. You're with 4th Company today. Take your pick, but get on out there!

You can be with 4th Company 1st Platoon, where you will spend the day on the ocean on a tall-masted ship, watching the breeze gently luff the sails and rock you gently through the ocean...
-or-
You can be with 4th Company 2nd platoon, which after a brisk but invigorating 15 mile run at noon, will be assigned to clean out the grease traps that have gotten clogged, out back of Delano Hall (be sure to wear your HazMat mask and Waders.. Lost our 2nd photographer last year doing that)."

So now, I'm going to have to try to figure out which girls are in 4th company, 2nd platoon so I can tell when I'm in the right group... I'm just glad I'm not the only one. Seriously, only reason I could think of missing a kid was that he was in the infirmary getting one of those stylish yellow-badge armbands (sick chits).

They DID look like they were having fun out there on the ocean, though... Didn't they!
