Not a very good picture but I wanted to share : Tel Aviv residents, Jews & Muslims, harmoniously enjoying a day at the beach, not knowing what lay ahead the next day
Happy hour with D2 Monday night while H is away at a conference. I never get tired of the beautiful views in La Jolla and feel so fortunate to live here.
We headed over to Balboa Park and the Fleet Science Center for the (partial) solar eclipse event. First it was viewable through a thin cloud layer, then the sun started burning through. Every time the clouds lifted, people cheered. My new solar glasses worked great, even through the phone camera.
Explain the one with the dress. That’s ghostly.
Some of these look like the sculptures in Storm King State Park in New York.
I’ve actually been there- we used to live near there. But this is city park in Nola- the botanical and sculpture gardens. This was our first visit and it was absolutely gorgeous.
I love the waterfall and the mirrored sculpture.
My daughter and I went on an overnight leaf peeping trip to New Hampshire this weekend. We were on a busy road and saw this incredible rainbow. I had a car right on my tail, so I turned onto a side road and discovered a beautiful stream with the rainbow in the background. It was really magical. Foliage color isn’t great this year, but we still had a good time.
Have you gone on a bayou tour yet? My husband was assigned to help out with the oil spill in Dec 2010 or so and I and our girls went to stay with him and keep him company. We went on a bayou tour while he was working and it was fabulous.
We also went to the D Day Museum (my FIL was a WW II POW) and my 8/9 year old daughter came out of there knowing what Allies stormed which beaches and prattled on about the invasion for days.
We had a great trip, except for when a local, out of the blue, told my husband he looked like Mike Ditka . He doesn’t at all!
I concur with @MaineLonghorn that the foliage isn’t great this year, so we didn’t do any special leaf peeping this season. We went to an apple orchard last week for cider and donuts, and they had a colorful pumpkin display:
Maybe next year.
We haven’t been to a bayou tour- I’m not big on gators, though we have some near our house. It is probably something we will end up doing at some point though.
Also, I finally finished the “nap” afghan DH asked for last year. It would have been done sooner, but he insisted it be ample enough to completely cover him rather than the lap size the pattern specified. We’re closing down the cabin to return to AZ this week, so it’ll have to wait for next year’s naps.
@milgymfam did you see this?
@MaineLonghorn These rainbow pics are gorgeous. With your permission I’d love to try to watercolor paint the one with the silhouettes of the trees.
This one:
We were up in N.Ga yesterday with friends. tried to snap a few foliage pics but didn’t get any great shots.
Oh, sure! I would love to see the painting when you’re done! I really like your work.
Definitely…and thank you! I’ll try to do it justice.
