@TiggerDad are you using a tripod? The clarity of your pics is astounding. If you are not, you must have the steady hands of a surgeon!

Amazing photo!!!

No, I never use tripod when shooting birds in flight since the minimum shutter speed I use is 1/2000sec. I even turn off the lens’s Image Stabilization (IS) when using such high shutter speed and faster. When using the shutter speed below 1/2000sec, say when shooting perched birds, I turn on the IS. The IS has become so good with the latest lenses that I can produce sharp photos, hand-held, at 1/4sec. I can even do exposure bracket or focus bracket of 3-5 consecutive shots handheld and still produce sharp, post-merged photos. In fact, I believe the IS technology has hit the tripod manufacturers’ revenues really hard over the past decade and will continue to do so even more. There are of course occasions when a tripod is needed, but those times are getting less frequent.

I don’t have a good camera any more. Maybe when I retire? But somehow I have three tripods. I find them useful for photographing art and for taking group photos with a time delay. That’s about it.

My lunch view didn’t suck today. Trying to get in as much nature time and quality time as possible before D19 heads to England in a few weeks (hopefully… still no visa :confounded:).

Ok! So I just made this - garden vegetable focaccia - to take to dinner with my parents. It’s my first attempt at real bread since the mid-1990’s bread machine DH and I got as a wedding gift. I’m kinda impressed with myself!

Yesterday, looking down into Anza Borrego Desert State Park (CA) Wish I had my Nikon to better capture the bird soaring above us.

I love it there. It was a very hot weekend for your visit!

It’s supposed to be a great week here at the beach in San Diego. Mostly in the high 70’s and low 80’s and with kids back in school it shouldn’t be crowded. Enjoy your time with your D.

DH and I go on a golf cart ride most evenings to watch the sunset. Tonight’s
