I’d like to share our latest cabin project. DH made a simple board and batten headboard for our guest room just in time for one of my dear CC friends to occupy it tomorrow.

Looks great! I may steal this idea for my DDs room; she likes the bed turned sideways, so I need a custom headboard. Are those 1×2s?

I, too, may steal this idea. I have a bed for which I need a headboard and it’s been awkward to find the right item, but you are right, we can create the size and color we need, easy!

DH says 1x3 stiles, 1x6 above the stiles, 1x4 shelf. He plans to put a 1x6 stained shelf on top of the 1x4 painted shelf, similar to what he did in our casita at home, but couldn’t get that done in time for our guest:
(Later, he put a plug behind the shelf so those lamps cords could be threaded invisibly behind the shelf.)

We’re going to the Finger Lakes next weekend, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be too early for much leaf peeping.
We’re doing a bike trip in Vermont starting next Sunday. Hoping for great leaf viewing.
