My dog’s best friend and playmate moved several months ago but just paid us a visit. The look of anticipation followed by them “hanging” out was great.
That is so beautiful. Literally brought tears to my eyes.
It looks like the former principal of PS130 in Manhattan’s Chinatown is getting her kidney transplant, yay! Below is a gigantic poster of her face and plea for donor on a building in Times Square last week. My fingers are crossed for sure. She’s been doing perineal dialysis at home for over a year. She retired from PS130 to run a principal mentorship program at Columbia Teacher’s College but had to retire from that because of kidney failure. None of her family was a match.
Edited to add that my daughter was extremely fortunate to attend PS130. An amazing school and worth the schlep on the subway from Brooklyn, even after 9/11/01, the fourth day of Kindergarten for my girl.
Here she is today. She’ll be in intensive care for a while, but so far, so good!
We’ve kept our 2021 and 2022 bulbs outside in dirt since they finished blooming in their seasons. Nothing more had happened until suddenly - ta da - my 2021 holiday bulb has just put out another flower stalk! It must have liked the cool cloudy weather we’ve been having for MONTHS!
Very cool!
My bulbs have been stored in the garage in order to let them go dormant… turns out, my husband has been watering them! Oh well, I tossed some, but the Wedding Dance bulb perked up after being put on the sunny kitchen counter and produced three flower stalks!
This appeared so suddenly last night! It looked as though one could have reached out and touched it. Winds blew up fiercely but not a drop of rain.
I was so fortunate to have my bonus Grandma around until early this year. We always think of her in the spring since she gave H amaryllis bulbs 20 plus years ago and they always bloom at this time. The second picture are the amaryllis blooming at my parents house with my little nephew.
Younger S sent this from Iceland. First pic is his from today. Second pic was when we were there (with him) the end of March 2019. BIG difference!
(edited from earlier, because they sent more pics that I think were taken from the same viewpoint. Or at least closer.)
What a beautiful painting!!!
Thank you -
We put up a new squirrel proof feeder. Apparently it isn’t chipmunk proof; these two are now in cahoots. The squirrel sat up when I came to the window; I swear it looked right at me and gave me the finger.
Not sure the squirrel can separate one finger out of its three or four
There’s an amusing video of a NASA engineer’s attempt to design a bird feeder with a squirrel proof maze at https://youtu.be/hFZFjoX2cGg
Flying condors in Peru. These are the biggest flying birds - up to 4m wing span. Glide over Colca canyon which is deeper than the Grand Canyon. Majestic view - brought us to tears
Here is my pretty beet salad I had for lunch yesterday.
Here is the pretty marina/city view I enjoyed while eating it.
And not to be outdone, here is the pretty crème brûlée we enjoyed for dessert.
