For an incoming freshman in engineering, is it better to take phys 218 regular or phys 218 honors? How’s the difficulty of 218 honors?

My son took regular 218 and it about killed him. Physics is a weedout course so be careful. My son is in the University Honors Program and decided not to take his math or physics as honors his first year. He is taking mat 308 next semesters as honors. Just be careful, these courses are quite hard and time consuming.
