I'm just wondering, does anyone know exactly what's the interquartile range for PHY admittees' verbal score? i remembered i read it a while ago it was around 690 700 - 760 770ish... but i went on Princeton's site to check, can't seem to find it.

From the Common Data Set information for Princeton:

http://registrar1.princeton.edu/data/common/cds2004.pdf

25th Percentile 75th Percentile

SAT Verbal 680 770
SAT Math 690 790

(This probably won't format correctly, but you'll get the idea.)

i'm still confused as to how this works...do the percentile things mean that 25% of Princeton students scored below 1370, and 25% scored ABOVE 1560?

no slicmlic

each verbal/math part is taken separately. so people with unbalanced scores like 800 math 680 verbal or 800 verbal 680 math skew the data to make it seem like 25% scored AT or ABOVE 1560. In reality, if you work out the data (i've tried some experiments lol) it's more like 25% scored at or above 1530-40 combined.

I was about to say what encomium said

So, if you have a 1550+, you have a better than average shot, and less than a 1360 you have a worse than average shot...(duh)

Yeah, and they also take the highest score for each part....not one sitting.

So I ended up w/ a 1500 (800 M, 700 V) in their eyes instead of 1430 (730 M, 700 V)-- my highest one sitting.

hey i'm at princeton right now (and gone off my ass) but from talking to ppl, i'd say the average SAT score here is mid to upper 1400s. lol just fyi. this place is amazing...and the dining halls totally rule =)
