PHYS 2CL and 2D?

http://www-chem.ucsd.edu/academic/Ugrad/biochem.bs.pdf

so for biochem, you can take either PHYS 2BL, 2CL, or 2DL. it recommends 2CL and says you dont need PHYS 2C (which isnt necessary for a biochem major).

Physics Courses

but, the general catalog says PHYS 2CL needs "prior or concurrent enrollment in Physics 1C, 2C, or 4D."

so do i or do i not need one of those courses in order to take 2CL?

also, i am taking math20c when i take phys2b--which is cool, it says it's a prereq that can be concurrent.

but, when i take math20d id be taking phys2d, but that doesnt say it can be concurrent--is that right? (im just confirming..)
also, is phys2d not offered every quarter? the general catalog says it is..but it doesnt seem to be when i check fall11 and previous quarters..

that was long, sorry.

thanks

If it says you need "prior or concurrent enrollment in Physics 1C, 2C, or 4D. " then you basically need what it says.

For phys2D you need “Physics 2B and Mathematics 20D” so you need to take it prior, not concurrent, so you can not take Math20D and Phys2D at the same time.

Why aren’t you taking Math20D and Phys2C at once?

my major doest require phys2c.
just phys 2a, 2b, 2d, and a phys 2 lab

thanks for the reply. i wasjust confirming.

You don’t need PHYS 2C to take 2CL, but you probably have to take 2B or 2D.

^ thanks.

but why does the site say you’d need PHYS 2C if you don’t?

don’t listen to the site. i took 2A, 2B, and 2D during the school year, then 2CL over the summer.

Because the people who write the course catalogs are not the the people who work the the respective departments. When I was a ChemE major, I had to reenroll in a bunch of classes because whoever made the ChemE catalog page ****ed up and put a duplicate Nano page titled ChemE. Just go to your department’s page and read the major requirements from there. It maybe be less organized, it may be ugly, but at least it’ll be right.

oh.
ok thank you both
