Has anyone taken it then? Can you please comment on it.

How is this class graded? How hard is it to get an A?

I took PHYS 101 and 102 during the school year. Basically you learn everything by yourself by reading the book and doing the assigned problems. There are 8 units for each semester, each requiring that you do several labs. You’re given a timeline to finish the units. At the end of each unit, you need to get your lab book checked by a TA after which you take a multiple choice test. Conceptually, it isn’t that hard but there is a lot of work. You might struggle with the course if you procrastinate, aren’t good at math, or haven’t taken physics before. Average for both courses is about a B+. I would say it’s somewhat easy to get an A in PHYS 101 but it is a little harder in PHYS 102 because there is a small change in the grading that results in your needing to get more answers correct on the exams to get the A.

I am not familiar with course categories yet, so do freshmen take them?

Tsenguun I believe you are in Eng.,

Engineers don’t take Phys 101-102, they take 112-213
