Physics 116, 117

Does anyone know how well you need to do on the Physics 116, 117 to get out of the classes, and how hard the exams are? I know the AP Physics C exams only get you out of 104 and 105 if I'm not mistaken. I'm a rising freshman, and my teacher has tried to add the "extra topics" in these courses into our year in addition to the regular AP Physics C. I really don't want to take freshman physics anymore, but I need these classes for the Applied Sciences major. Any help is appreciated.

what do u mean the “Physics 116, 117”…r u taking those at a community college?

I think the OP is talking about the departmental examination for PHYS 116 and 117.

those courses are extremely difficult. if you’re planning to continue with physics, you definitely shouldn’t try to skip them because you’ll NEED that foundation for the upper-level classes. your high school course is probably not appropriately equivalent.

i know several people (including physics majors) who have said that 116 & 117 were the most difficult classes they’ve taken at carolina. my ex-boyfriend (CS major) actually failed 117…

The failing part is exactly what I’m worried about…what is the difference between PHYS116/117 and regular calculus based physics besides the extra topics?
