Physics 135 vs Physics 140?

Hey yo everyone. I’m pre-med so Physics 135 was the class i intended to take. However, Physics 140 fits into my schedule so so so much better. I have heard it is harder than 135 but how so? How different are the two classes?

140 is Calc based. 135 is Algebra based (Although you do need to know what an integral is, but beyond that, no calculus knowledge is really needed).

Can’t really speak for 140, but I know that you will be in that class with engineers/math related major students (aka students who generally excel in this area), whereas in 135 you will be with other pre-meds.

Honestly speaking, 135 is an easy class. If you understand how to do all the practice exam problems, keep up with homework, and come to class on a regular basis, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get at least an A-.

Both classes have a relatively large portion of the grade determined by HW, but I am almost positive that 135 exams are much easier than 140 exams, hence why 135 should be the easier class.

Also, for the MCAT you only need to know the knowledge that you’ll learn in 135.

Yeah 135 is by far easier. One of the professors even gives you the same exact practice exams as the real ones.

If you care about your GPA, definitely take 135
