So I'm an incoming freshman and I would like to enroll in PHYS 2A but there are 50 people already on the waitlist. Is it a possibility that they will add another section to the course? Also it seems odd that they have only one professor and class for a course that is required for many engineering majors.

If you’re #50 or later I would say you have a shot, but not the best shot… I’d put the chance at <10% if they don’t let any more people in; if they do let more people in, which I think they will, I’m not sure they will accommodate all 50 of you guys. Then again they’re doing a lot of things differently this year so maybe you still will get in.

You’d have better luck next quarter when they will offer many more seats (3 lectures instead of 1, I believe). Even though lots of people drop (I estimate about 30-some out of 350) and I think the department will try to expand the class, if there are other classes you might want to take which are also in demand, I would just go ahead and enroll in those classes instead.

Thanks for answering. Yeah I enrolled in Chem 6A instead but I’m a little rusty with the chemistry.
