Hey I'm a bio major, gonna be a sophomore, and I'm thinking of taking physics (3series) next year too. The counselors make taking bio, ochem, and physics the hardest thing ever. Anyone have any advice on if I should take it or not?

I’m doing right now and its hell. But getting straight A’s tho. ALOT of work. If you are a dedicated student then you can do it. But I wouldn’t rush it tho.

I thinking you are on your sophomore year? I wouldn’t take do it if you have to take biochemistry and molecular biology while you are taking o-chem/physics. The first quarter with genetics is fine but when you get into biochem its starts getting real tough real fast. If I would have gone back in time, I would have taken physics during my junior year with all my chemistry done during my sophomore year. It would have been more chill of a schedule.

Plus even if you finish your physics your sophomore year, you are left with only upper-division bio classes during your junior / senior years. That means you got stack up on upper div bio classes during the quarter if you want to keep the 12 unit requirement for financial aid (I don’t know if you care). I wouldn’t take 2 bio lectures a quarter if you want a chill schedule. I think 1 bio lecture + 1 physics and 1 lab/elective is good for your junior year. 1 bio + 1 ochem + 1 elective is good for your sophomore year.

The only good reason to take bio+chem+physics your sophomore year is if you plan to double major or minor in another subject. This leaves you with extra time during your junior / senior for that extra major/minor. But if you are a pure bio major then just take it chill and get good grades.

ps. Arnold Guerra for physics 3 series is FTW

Any recommendations on Ochem teachers? I was thinking about doing Bio + Phys + Ochem but research takes up such a hunk of time I don’t think I would make it out alive.
