Physics 7A question...

Hi, I happen to be in Physics 7A now (taught by Ramesh... well actually, technically not anymore... it's now taught by someone named Ruza Markov). Anyway, I got a question for those who took Physics 7A before.

So in Physics 7A, we get these MasteringPhysics homework problems online, and I was wondering... are exam questions really going to be like those MasteringPhysics problems? Or are they harder/easier?

Harder. Much harder. Go to Ninjacourses and review all the past exams.

Do you mean just harder just like in concept, or harder as in calculations?

(Since I see that our syllabus says that calculators are not allowed on the tests, I’m assuming that we don’t have to do insane calculations by hand like 4234 times 2341)

Also, I was wondering… how exactly would one go about reviewing from the past exams? I mean, since there are like more than 20 past exams in the database and several problems on each exam (and many problems that one might not be able to know how to do the first time), how does one study through the past exams efficiently? And yes, I know about tutoring, but I also know that you can’t ask tutors for help on like every single problem since time is limited.

I had to use a calculator back in my days, but i guess things have changed. It will be very hard in concept no matter what, usually giving you problems that was never covered in class or homework or discussion.

Go through all the exams and you’ll see a pattern. And once you understand the pattern, you get used to the difficulty and therefore do well in your own midterms.

So yeah, 20 exams might be a lot, but you might need to do almost all of them to do well for yourself unless you’re one of those smarties who get it all without practicing too much.
