Physics 7A

Who's taking this? My lab/discussion section, 110, interferes with my math 53 lecture.

Who would like to trade lab/disc sections with me?

Also, in general, is it likely that a lot of people will drop this course within the first week? And how flexible are the GSI's in terms of letting people switch back and forth between sections? (I need to get into another lab/disc section...)

i think telebears will at least allow you to schedule 2 classes at the same time. math lectures are useless. just skip it. my two cents…

math lectures are sometimes available online. I know hutchings’ (regarded one of the better, or the best, 53 professor) were last year, and they might be archived.

Don’t worry, you usually won’t need to attend either. Physics discussions are usually not extremely helpful and never required, it’s just the GSI assigning a few problems while you work or chit-chat with the other folks at your table. You may as well work through the workbook on your own time and ask about clarification in office hours. Labs are required on lab days, however, and even then it’s just doing small demos in your groups and turning in the related worksheets by the end of the class.

As for math, there should be another 53 lecture section you can attend - even though it’s a different professor, the basic material covered should be almost the same. Though in my 53 class I’d say less than a quarter of enrolled students showed up to lecture, excluding midterm days. Math lectures tend not to be all that helpful, either…

Okay so i just transferred out of Math 53… I am going to do Math 1B instead.

Now i’m waitlisted for math 1b, the one with Persson. I am 39th in line. I know a lot of people fail this class, but how many people actually drop??

How does waitlisting work anyway?
