physics 8a (Shapiro)

so i just took my first physics midterm...

i choked on this midterm and i got a raw score of 55/90
The sd was 18 and the mean was 61.

The class has 2 midterms 90 pt a piece.
HW= 100 points
lab=40 points
final=180 points

Total points= 500

I am assuming that my midterm score for this midterm would constitute a c+/b-

I was wondering if I am able to ace everything in the class, would i stil have a chance to retain any form of A at the end of the semester?

Thanks,

Concerned student.

Perhaps. I understand the pressure to get that GPA, especially for pre-Haas or pre-med students, but worrying about stuff like this isn’t beneficial.

If you really ace the rest of the class, you should be able to get a good grade. Even if you don’t fully ace everything, you should still be able to get at least decent grade.

Just try your best. I’m guessing you’re taking it for a letter grade, and you can’t drop it. In which case, just try to do your best! You didn’t do horribly, you were barely below the mean.

Now, if you were taking it p/np, figuring out exactly how much work you don’t have to do takes a bit more skill ;).
