Physics 8A with Fajans

I just took my final yesterday and I don't think I did so well on it. I didn't really do well on the last two midterms either (both below class average). =[ I don't know it's my very first time taking physics and I feel like I got my ass kicked. I did pretty well oh the online homework and labs though and they combined are worth 20% of the grade. Does anyone know how he curves? The suspense is killing me, I just want to know if I have passed or failed the course already. =[ Has anyone actually failed this course before? If so what is the rate?

i'm in Fajans. i heard like 25% get As and 40% get Bs. so you probably did pass.

by the way how well did you do on homework? what did you average on each mastering physics?

I got like 4s and 5s on all my lab, and I think they are gona drop one, and I got 9.7% of the 10% for mastering physics, and they said they would drop 2 assignments. idk, I got like a 60 one 1 midterm and 36 on the other one. And I just checked the finals solutions, and I think I got about like half of the whole test right, (I kept making stupid little mistakes that screwed the steps and final answers) =[.

i see i see, it's ok you probably passed.

by the way what average homework score do you think most people get?

Let's just hope so, the way I see it, it's a lose-lose situation for me, even if I do pass, it's gona lower my GPA like crazy and if I don't, then well, I'm screwed too.

I am not sure, but I think people usually score pretty well on them, but at the same time, I know alotta people who chose not to do like the last two assignments at all, so idk.

i asked fajans after class, and he said that almost everyone does "similarly well" (whatever he means by that) on both mastering physics and labs/discussions.

so assuming that everyone got A~range on both homework and labs, he said that our grades cutoffs and such will, unfortunately, depend primarily on our midterms and final scores. :( i got close to 100% on homework and labs, but did really badly on the exams too.. i really dont want to look at the final solutions, because that will ruin my break lol. but im sure the curve will save our lives.. hopefully! fajans said the grades will be up sometime early this week.

ps. fajans was a horrible professor to take introductory physics with especially for ppl like us who had never taken physics before! ugh im just glad its over!

probably will be up in a few hours.

lol i'm nervous... i did well on the First midterm and Final, but i *ed up on the second one (completely *ed up).

needed to get a high A on the final to get an A in the class, but i don't know if i got it...

im sooooo nervous because i ****ed up on the easiest questions (like two problems) on the final.. i know even though i havent looked at the answer yet. hahaha story of my life. and in addition to that, i guessed on 4 of them.. like waves and entropy FML :(

i am just hoping for a really good curve!

and for second midterm, the curve was really low.. like 67 so im sure you're not the only one. my one friend got like 55 (which is pretty good i think), and another one got 26 so i think everyone did poorly on it except the 25 "abnormal" people who got 100's.

ps. if i got like average on both midterms, is that like a B~B-? (not considering a REALLY bad final in that class lol) i really have no idea how the grading works!

the Final exam grades are up on bSpace, the Final grade in the class should be up tomorrow i guess.

OMG, I just saw the grade for the final exam.

I did slightly better than the 2nd midterm, but it's still pretty bad.

I just ruined my winter break. . . great.

damnit. I ****ed up on the easy problems too, and why did they have to mix fluid with waves, damnit, I can do fluid stuff but waves. . . just no.

It's not looking too good for me at all. =[

what did you guys get..? & any info about the class average? i dont know where im standing right now, because the class is kind of curved.

my score doesnt look good at all though.. (which was kind of expected) but im wondering if the curve will kind of help me.

and i hated that fluid + waves problem too. in addition to the waves/pond problem and entropy, blocks friction, and jaguar/ideal gas law (one of the easiest lol) problem :(

seriously though.. FML. :(

i got a 95/100 on my first midterm and 190/200 on the Final. but i got a 73/100 on my 2nd midterm because i forgot about the force of gravity acting downwards on the rod (Lance problem).

i probably averaged 95 on the Homework and got all 5's on labs with the exception of one (4.5/5).

so retarded of me lol. i could get anywhere from a B+ to A in the class i think, so i'm very nervous.

still not up yet? what the crap

seriously... still not up.?!?

i never met anyone who got better score than you so far..im pretty sure you got an A! or at least i really hope so, which would mean i got like a B range.

i just want to see the grade and get it over with ! ugh effing fajans ruining my life even after the class is over. :(

what did you guys end up getting by the way?
especially you, x2046x, i am in a similar spot as you (midterm score wise)…how did you do?

i got an A

thanks

what about you x2046x? maybe ill PM you instead…
