Physics 8a!?

Are any freshmen taking Physics 8A their first semester? I'm a potential IB major and I haven't seen any "schedule" threads that have physics in them.

Is it unrecommended to take it as a fresh?

Thanks!

The thing is Physics 8A gets full quickly by transfers and sophomores so not many freshman have a chance to take the class. However, If you check enrollment daily some people should drop drop and you can take their spot so don’t totally count the class out.

I am gonna be a Junior at Cal right now and I gotta say that Physics 8A fills up VERY quickly. It’s hard for sophomores and juniors to get in, let alone freshmen. You also will probably not be prepared with the workload that accompanies it. Honestly, take your first semester easy and establish your social life first. Berkeley students study so much during their college careers that you really don’t need a head start on that! Make some friends!

P.S. People do drop out of Physics, but unless you have an iPhone or can somehow check Telebears every second, don’t count on getting their spot.

hm, well for me i added myself to physics 8a 2 weeks into the semester and there was plenty of seats available. so i think lots of people drop after a few days.

Thanks for the help! I think I’ll just stick to taking chem first semester.
