What do you guys know about these professors? I can't find anything on Bordel...

This is a tangent but didn’t you post in another thread how you took physics 7a? Why are you taking 8b now?

lol yeah that was my boyfriend who doesn’t have his own account… sorry about that

Bordel is currently teaching 8B MWF 3-4. Maybe you can sit on lectures to see what he/she is like. Or, ask some students.

I heard Deweese is very good though, and most of the people I know plan to sign up for him over Bordel.

Deweese is full already wtheeff

even though the class is full, a LOT of people always end up dropping or switching b/c of class conflict etc. so keep checking telebears to see. this happens a lot in the first 2 weeks of class so keep going to section. after the early drop deadline, there were about ~10 seats in each section.

i got stuck with the only discussion section left - wednesdays/fridays 4-6 which overlaps with my chem lab lecture -___-

how am i supposed to switch it on telebears?
just refresh the schedule page till i see 1 empty spot?..
or just wait till next semester?

you can do that to ensure you get a spot before class starts b/c a lot of people do drop/do switches/etc. it’s really early in telebears so if you keep checking, you’ll find something. i did this last semester, and got my first choice section. if you wait until next semester, there’s a chance you won’t get a different section b/c 1) they only switch sections for you if you can find someone else who wants to switch with you and who really wants class friday from 4-6 anyway? and 2) they enroll people before they switch sections. so if there’s a spot that opens up, someone usually takes it.

^but it’s all pretty iffy.

yeah that’s true. i really want to take physics 8b next semester, but seeing as how deweese is completely full…

i have a class at the same time as bordel’s on monday. should i double book on telebears? how necessary are bordel’s lectures? i usually don’t go to deweese’s lectures this semester anyway.

physics lectures aren’t necessary at all. if you can read the book or go to section and figure out how to do the problems, you can do well in that class. i would double book right now and switch to deweese’s when an opening comes up either now or in the beginning of the semester.

^but aren’t there like 100 other people patrolling telebears constantly, waiting for a spot in Deweese’s lecture to open up as well?

it might be your lucky day? and more spots open up as it gets closer to class starting.

Bordel or Liphardt for Physics 8B?
