physics and dance

I'm a junior and i've started my college search but i was wondering if anyone could recommend any schools for me to look into.

I'm interested in the sciences, but mainly physics, astrophysics, and neuroscience. I also am considering a minor in dance(or at least classes or a company to be involved in), and would like a school with Italian. I prefer to be close to or in a city, and am not into the greek life thing, but would not mind it, as long as it does not dominate the social scene.

Phsyics/Dance major? That's an odd combo

ever hear of the Myers Briggs? i'm an INTP!

St. Olaf College seems a good option for both. . .

where is that?

check out carnegie mellon. im not entirely sure about the strength of its dance program, but it seems like it could be a perfect fit.

Thanks -- my friend goes there and he seems to like it, but he's not exactly a dancer. I'll look into it.

Minnesota...

I live in Connecticut and im willing to travel, but that might be a little far for me. I'll still look into it though -- you never know.

barnard/columbia!
fantastic dance department (at barnard), great sciences (mostly over at columbia, and there's a neuroscience and behavior major), italian, IN a city, and a very, very small greek life.

This may sound really random, but University of California, Irvine (UCI)... Its dance program ranks third in the nation (first for ballet), which is above Julliard, but it is also a top research university with really intense science programs. It also has pretty good sized classes considering it's a UC.

What about Boston University

I go to Case Western and have a physics major friend who was also a theatre/dance major until about a year ago (the friend is now a minor). Another plus: you don't need to apply to get into the two schools unlike at some others where you'd need to try out to be accepted to the artstuffs.
Oh, and if you like Italian Cleveland's Little Italy is a few minutes walk down the street. :)

USC..Matt Leinart took a few dancing courses there.

i second the barnard suggestion! it's in nyc but not overwhelming. there is a very strong italian department here (with some type of connection to the italian govt). barnard has one of the best dance departments at a liberal arts college in the country. they also give lots of individual attention in the sciences (and all classes) while giving you a chance to be exposed to research at columbia, and are dedicated to empowering females in the sciences. greek life isn't big at all. it sounds perfect for you, actually!

I agree with joand-BU is a great school, has the dance program you're looking for. and it's in Boston!!!!! Beautiful city!

Most people don't realize this, but George Washington University has a Theatre/dance department and offers a Presidential Arts Scholarship in dance. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is practically next door and the Washington Ballet Company is in residence nearby. The GW dance department focuses on modern/contemporary dance. GW is building a new science building and has it's own hospital. The Greek scene is not prevalent.

Bryn Mawr?

Washington University in St. Louis?
Tufts?
Pomona College?
