Physics and MIT grad

does JH have a good physics program? do people have trouble getting into selective grad schools, such as MIT?

thanks

Search the forum and you will find many threads on the Physics program at JHU:

I hear hopkins isnt that appropriate
my sister goes there so i know

also hopkins isnt that prestigious unless ur going into medicine

I must retort...

First, as far as the Physics program at Hopkins it is quite strong, as are all of our natural science programs. Beyond the facilities (just touring the Bloomberg Building on the Homewood campus and you'll be amazed), the research opportunities are unparalleled. Just review the Department website (<a href="http://physics.jhu.edu/%5B/url%5D">http://physics.jhu.edu/</a>) and you will read about all of our faculty accomplishments nationally and internationally. Finally, if you are specifically interested in Astronomy and Astrophysics there are very few schools that can compete with Hopkins. Not only are we related to the home of the Hubble telescope, the Applied Physics lab is one of the most well known facilities for applied physics studies (<a href="http://www.jhuapl.edu/)%5B/url%5D">http://www.jhuapl.edu/)</a>.

My other point is that you might not want to listen to post from students who clearly don't know anything about JHU. Yes, we are quite prestigious when it comes to medicine but that is not it. We have the second best creative writing program in the country. One of the top programs in international relations. A 98% acceptance rate into law school for our pre-law students. Nationally ranked programs in Classics, Foreign Languages, Economics, etc. Oh yeah, an affiliation to the oldest music conservatory in the country. A world-reknowned Public Health program. I can go on...but I think I have made my point.

Ignore the myths, come visit, and you will be pleasantly surprised!

Hopkins has an amazing physics department by reputation.

hey my post got removed
