Hello people,
I get accepted by Duke...
You may ask why I am here. Here is why.
I find out that Duke and UNC Chapel Hill have some kind of an agreement that I can take a course at Chapel Hill if Duke does not offer that course. Is this right?
So, I know that Duke is not known for phsyics and astronomy. How is UNC chapel Hill's physics and astonomy? I know absolutely nothing about this university. Can you guys introduce to me something about this university?
Many thanks..

:l Duke...

Hmm. I really don't know much about our astronomy program, but I do know that our planetarium is really cool, and folks at NASA trained there for a long time. Maybe because of that we have a good astronomy program? I wish I could help you more! Good luck!

Yes, you can take courses at UNC if it's not offered at Duke. I'm not too familiar with the Physics department at UNC, but UNC is strong overall in the Sciences, from what I understand.

Be sure to check with Duke if you're interested in taking a UNC course to ensure a smooth process and the transference of credits. Below are links to UNC's Interinstitutional program information page and course search tool:

Good luck!

Thanks to all...

UNC does have many strong programs, but Physics and Astronomy is not one of them. Although I'd say UNC over anything, any day :), I recommend that you reconsider Duke. The "take courses at Duke/UNC" program allows for up to one course, per semester, given that IFF the course is NOT AVAILABLE at UNC or Duke, respectively to the institution you end up attending. Now if you want to become a Chemist or a Biologist...UNC any day.

Edit: woops! I thought that in your post you were contemplating going to UNC...nm that. But in any case...Duke is a great choice for Physics.

the program is really cool but a school like Duke prides itself on offering tons of courses in every subject. if you find a course at carolina that duke doesnt seem to offer, they might just reccomend a similar course on their campus.
