Physics at UAH?

I read the unflattering post by EricOrion - not sure if his observations were valid or whether they were the rantings of a disgruntled student.
From what I have heard, UAH sounds like a great science school.

How is the Physics undergrad program there at present?

I checked their website, but it says “under construction.”

My son took physics last fall, and he got an A+ in the class. He did not find the course that difficult, but he had an excellent teacher in high school. The only reason he chose not to take physics in the spring was that he changed majors, and did not need it.

Thanks @momreads !

Hello @Nerdyparent,
Thank you for your question! The University of Alabama in Huntsville is located in (and interacts frequently with) Huntsville, AL. Huntsville was recently awarded the title by the below study of being the best US city for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers (http://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/cities/best-places-stem-grads-2015/). We apologize for portions of the Physics Department website being under maintenance. Many departments take the quieter summer months to update their portions of www.uah.edu .
UAH Physics Department: http://www.uah.edu/science/departments/physics
UAH Undergraduate Physics Program: http://www.uah.edu/science/departments/physics/undergraduate-students

Physics students at UAH have the opportunity to major in 5 different physics specifications:
1.) Astronomy/Astrophysics
2.) Optics (Side note: UAH is 1 of only 7 Optical Engineering programs offered in the US.)

3.) Applied Theoretical Physics
4.) Secondary Education
UAH even offers a B.S./M.S. program in Physics. This means participating undergraduate students can obtain their Masters of Science in Physics much more efficiently than before!

Alongside these intense, detailed programs at UAH, undergraduate students are highly encouraged to participate in research opportunities hosted by the Physics faculty. UAH is Tier-1 research institution with the Carnegie title of “Very High” Research Activity. This honor is only given to 73 universities in the US. Finally, Physics students at UAH are surrounded by a wealth of paid internship and co-op opportunities while obtaining their undergraduate degree. Many times, these highly desired internships help the student be placed in a high-paying career after his/her degree is completed. These unique facets that make up UAH’s undergraduate Science programs are some of the reasons that The University of Alabama in Huntsville has the “Highest Return on Investment” in the state of Alabama! Please contact the UAH Admissions Department for more information on visiting the campus, meeting with faculty/advisors, and applying for admissions acceptance.

Thank you

@UAHAdmissions wow - that is impressive! Thanks for the info!
