Physics B vs. C -- Math matters?

Should a student who did better in calc than in trig take AP Physics C, since it is more calc-based?

That's what I was recently told. But if you are someone who is interested in the natural sciences and not engineering, it seems like C may not be the best investment of your time and effort. Doesn't C cover the same material as B, plus more?

Thanks for any insights and info on this.

Physics B covers Newtonian Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Waves and Optics, and Atomic and Nuclear Physics. Physics C only covers Newtonian Mechanics (one exam) and Electricity and Magnetism (one exam), but in much more depth, with new concepts, and with calculus.
