Hi, so I just wanted to get some input on what E&M was like and how hard it is? Im suppose to take it next year, but based off what Ive seen and heard its suppose to be a difficult course. I would really like to at least maintain a 90 in the class but considering I can barely do that in Mechanics right now I’m pretty worried for next year. I’d just like to know what makes it a difficult course, why its generally regarded as harder than Mechanics, and if possible if I should take it at all.
I’ve taken Calculus AB, taking Calculus BC right now and will take Multi next year with E&M if thats relevant.
Thanks for any input/advice!
if E&M is a year-long course, it shouldn’t be too bad. The most difficult part about both Mechanics and E&M is that in it’s normal form as 2 one-semester classes, the amount of material to grasp is at the same speed as in college.
In college, physics E&M commonly has multivariable calculus as a corequisite, but high school AP physics C E&M does not, so it may be harder than it needs to be due to not making use of the useful math that you will have but other students may not necessarily have.
EM is completely fine if its a year long course. My school does a semester of M and then a semester of EM, and it’s a little rough.
