Hey, anyone taken this exam? I am really worried about this exam, What do I need to get in order to get a 3?? (for both parts of the exam). Thats all I want a 3!!!! I took, AP Physics B last year and got a 3, so I self-studied this year for C. I am praying for a 3, what are you guys planning to concentrate on in order to get a passing grade?

To get a 5 on the mechanics tests you need about a 59+, and for the E+M, a 56+, out of a possible 90 points. Not impossible, but certainly difficult. The break down work slike this:

MC:
Total Correct - 1.25Total incorrect = Raw
Raw1.286 = scaled MC score

When the scaled MC score is added to your free response score (which is out of 45, 15 per question), you get your score.

i'm dying from physics too... ah monday....too soon

josh, I hope you mean MC: Total Correct-0.25*Total incorrect = Raw
1.25 would be horrible!

I'm also dying over it. Any advice from past test takers?

I need a 5 and I'm considering not taking it at this point, I'm so wiped out from other tests it's just overwhelming.

how much calc do u need for phys c?

I'm taking it and will probably fail miserably. I only need a 4 for credit (Mechanics), but I don't think I'll even manage a three.

For Physics C: Mechanics, you just need to differentiate and integrate very simple functions like x^2 and sin(x). Physics C: E&M requires more complicated integrals, especially the problems involving finding total electric field, etc.

Sorry, I meant .25

You need to know how to derive more advanced equations for both physics tests. The ones that come to my mind are: air resistance, RC circuit, and LC circuit equations. Most integrals for tests are not too advanced; however, calculating moment of intertia, some electric fields, and sometimes voltage can be annoying, at least for problems in the textbook my class uses.

god, that looks hard to accomplish...I am praying for a 3. And also, what are you guys going to concetrate on? I need to start studying by now, I have AP Chemistry Tuesday!!! Thats Monday AND tuesday of testing, that just sucks!!

I have to relearn RC and LC circuits, look over magnetism and voltage quickly, and spend the rest on my weekend on rotational motion. But right now, I should be reading history (oh so much fun :rolleyes: )

I remember AP Chem! I thought I did horribly on the test, but it turned out very well. All I did was peruse through Barrons the weekend before the test, and apparently I knew the information well. (I had an awesome teacher.)

yea guys i live in hong kong so i'll be taking it 12 hours before you guys... i dunno i just hate the feeling of staring at the paper and not knowing what to do... at least i got to write and invent along the way with the other APs
