I am taking ap physics b this year as a junior and was planning my senior year courses. would taking ap physics c seem like too easy of a course, or does it not make a difference. btw, i am planning to be an economics major.

Physics C too easy? Not at all.

Then physics c is not necessary. From the course description, b is for those who do not want to major in physics and c is for those who do.

Physics C is probably the hardest courses in high school...definitely not easy material. Only a handful of students get 5's on that exam.

depends on the teacher --- find out how the teacher teaching it teaches.
It could range from teachers that are hesitant to use calculus to those that prove and derive everything with multivariable/vector calculus, differential equations and a ton of other undergrad level math.

Just know what you'd be getting yourself into

If you like math and calculus Physics C can be easy. There's no one answer here. For my son the science AP that gave him the most work was Bio.

it was more a question of whether colleges would view it as too easy of a course compared with taking ap bio or ap chemistry.

Physics C is in no way easier than Bio or Chem.

sorry to bring up this somewhat old thread, but I am in somewhat of the same situation.

Notice the "I am taking ap physics b this year as a junior and was planning my senior year courses."

Would physics C (both) be consideres slacking by colleges since I already took physics B?

Physics C after Physics B will be redundant if you are not going to be engineering or physics major. Please use your time to pursue another subject.

jovenes, 24.2% of takers get 5 on the physics C, compared with ~7% on the english lit
i suppose it's because most who DO take the physics C are really smart, (sort of like how Calc BC is 40+% 5) but hey just setting the facts straight

ParentOfIvyHope, but the problem is that I don't have other sciences to take. Its either this or attempt advanced physics independent study.

Take physics C. it is soooo much harder than physics B simply because its calc-based. I took physics honors in 11th (we dont have B), and AP in 12th. Bio and Chem are a lot of work, but physics you really need to learn your stuff. but make sure your teacher isn't a ridiculous grader...

No it isn't. Physics C covers different stuff and I believe uses calculus.

Anyway, definitely worth taking, especially if it covers E&M

Mechanics will basically be a repeat, with a few calculus-based parts added in (mostly derivations which are never actually tested by the College Board)

E&M will be mostly new stuff.

Physics C will be definitely harder with calculus, to me, it would be a very fun class to take ( but my school doesn't have any physics APs)

but since you took B already, you should look into other sciences APs and widen your horizon or something
cuz to me, having both does sound pretty redundant even if they are on different material
