<p>Does anyone know how good the physics dept. is? Are the profs good teachers? Are there many majors, and if so, how happy are they?
Any input would be appreciated.

<p>If you call the dept you will be able to find out how many majors there are and what their post-grad outcomes are --- how many go to grad school, and where. Perhaps others can address the 'good teacher' and 'happiness' issue. But you might also see whether there is a physic club or Society of Physics Students chapter and email the leaders, or ask the dept secretary to give you names of students to talk to directly, or even to recommend particularly 'accessible' profs. I find dept secys usually happy to chat (especially with mothers) and a very good source of information.</p>
