Physics Major --> Aerospace/Robotics

Hello CC, first-year physics major here and done with the first semester. I want to work in either aerospace or robotics, should I transfer to my school's engineering dept?

Thanks,
MikeEcho

Yes, if you want to become an engineer, then transferring in to the school’s engineering department is highly recommended.

It depends if you want to go into a graduate program or not. A physics degree is pretty good preparation for the mechatronics field. Aerospace Engineering is good too but you might not get the breadth that you have in physics. For a job with a B.S. Engineering is usually preferable because employers look for engineers instead of physics majors (sadly!).
