Should I take Physics instead of Chemistry? I have the option to pick between Physics and Chemistry and their Honors counterparts. Which should I take?

What do you wish to major in? :D

…
What grade are you in?

I’d like to be a pharmacist, but I change my mind a lot about my future job. For a while I’ve wanted to be a pediatrician, then a teacher, then a civil engineer, etcetera.

This is for next year, when I’ll be a sophomore.

Pharmacist: Chemistry
Civil Engineer: Physics

This question really shouldn’t be have to asked since most of the careers you wish to major in will require at least one unit of chemistry and physics. So, you NEED to take both either way.

For sophomore year, it is common to take Chemistry. People usually take Physics in their Jr. year.

If you want to do pharmacy, why wouldn’t you want to go into a direct program rather than taking the PCAT’s? St. Johns, Rutgers, UNC, etc in particular.

@sAxsKy. I think he’s in high school. But, you still have a point since the OP can try receiving college credit via dual enrollment.

No I know he’s in high school. I meant in general, that the OP should just go to a direct 6 year program out of high school instead of wasting away 2 more years.

Note that some of those schools you mentioned are 2+4 school programs, after two years of taking pre-req’s then you APPLY to the pharmacy school. It is getting harder and harder to get into pharmacy schools without a BA or BS. Also if once you are in pharmacy school and you decide it is not for you with a completed bachelors you will have a back-up plan.

Oh and to the OP I would take Chem first.

Chemistry first, unless you know you’re taking AP Chem, then it doesn’t matter.

I took both at the same time last year, and enjoyed physics more. But perhaps I am biased because I’m not liking AP Chemistry this year lol Traditionally, students take chemistry first. Good luck OP!

It depends if you want to have a long life expectancy or not.

Haha… :D
