Physics Placement Test

I took this the day it came out, but when I check results on the academic center site nothing shows up. Is it just me or are they just late with the results?

i took it two days ago and still didnt get results so i derno what’s up

me too. I took it thurs. I called them and they said they’re having technical difficulties and it should be up this week before SPOP 1.

I sure hope so. I’m going to SPOP 1.

me too  i also took the chinese placement so i wanna kno which one to take

if i take it on monday, would they be able to get my results before spop 1?

I just got mine right now.

I passed!

the weird thing is though that it said i also took the korean placement exam. I never did though.

so now I’m worried if my physics test is legit.

now when I logged into my results the korean test thing disappeared.

weird.

Same, 91% here. :)

I have a question about this physics placment test.

The test center website says I need to take it through an online test because I’m currently out of the coutry. However, I want to know what are the consequences of not taking it. (I kinda know I will fail already)

Is it worth it?

if you dont take the test, you (supposedly) cant enroll in physics 7a. you need to take the test, fail it, and then enroll in physics 7a.

stupid, i know.

you could prob pass confidential. i came in thinking it was all physics but it was actually vectors, derivatives&integral, analyzing graphs and simple physics.

what major are you? i know for engineers that not taking it/failing it means having to take 7C rather than skipping it.

another question:

The UCI test center page told me I also have to take a calculus placement test. However, I took AP Calc AB this year and I’m pretty sure that I got at least a 4 (If not a 3). The scores don’t come out until like August and I was wondering if this would be alright (assumming I got a test-exempt score on the AP)

Thanks for the help guys! (:

P.S. Dorkdorkdork, I’m majoring in BioMedical Engineering in the school of engineering. Physics is my weak spot and I know that, in engineering, it’s crucial. Thus, I would rather fail the test and start from scratch then pass the test by sheer chance and start from a level of physics which is totally unknown to me.

you mean having to take physics 7a instead of skipping to physics 7c.

@Confidential69: AP credit is going to be a pain. you want to take the math placement test and enroll in math 2a.

say you only place into math 2b via the AP. if you get a 4/5 on the calc AB exam, you’ll need to contact them and then open registration for math 2b. (may need to scan ap exams or something… or go in person to a counselor).

if you end up with a 3 on the calc AB exam, you’ll be placed into math 2a anyway.

if you really want, dont take the placement exam and just wait and see what you get on the AP exam. there are probably calc placement test later on in the summer.

thanks for clarifying flemmyd. what can i do if my online test results dont come back in time for class registration? can i register for classes from my home computer?

@confidential - AP scores have already come out. what do you mean you don’t get yours til august?

yes, you register from your home computer. you may need to log in at a certain time though.

argh ****. 74% on physics… ><

@ flemmyd: if i talk to christy, do you think she would be nice enough to let me go to 7C instead of 7A? just one more lousy problem and i’d be home free!

no she wouldnt. i tried the same thing. i got a 74% (or 1% below whatever it was when i took it…)

no biggie. i had the semi-intention of taking physics 7a to round out the year long physics sequence(i thought i was pre-med at the time…)

7a is super easy. it will be a good pad to your GPA. later on, you’ll want it.

I wonder what my score is as well… I think if I reviewed better I would’ve passed the physics test. But honestly since I’m in an engineering major I think it would be best to take 7a so I would have a solid foundation on physics since my memory is rusty from high school.

It helped that I just took AP Physics this year lol. I get the idea of wanting to have a solid foundation, but at the same time I don’t want to spend time learning the same things and having to pay for it too.

@flemmyd: i like the idea of a gpa padder but like tama21 says, wouldnt that put me a quarter behind? or are you talking about taking physics 7a my first quarter?
