Physics Placement Test

According to this [url="<a href="http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu/require.html%22%5Dwebsite%5B/url">http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu/require.html"]website[/url</a>], because I'm in the Engineering department and I never took the AP Physics C exam, I must take the Physics 7 placement exam.

I find this weird because I haven't received any notification about taking this test. I did however receive one for the writing placement test (AWPE), so is it really mandatory for me to take care of that placement test?

What will happen if I really did need to take it and I don't?

Actually you dont need to take the placement exam. You can Physics 2 which is Math Methods for Physics. Calculus is used in the course.

However if you want skip Physics 2 into Physics 7C then you take the exam. you need 75% or higher to pass. You should take the exam if you have taken a physics course before.
I didn’t AP Physics C either and I’m not going to take the placement exam, I want to take Physics 2. I had a terrible high school physics course (only covered mechanics).

Series:

Physics 2 —> Physics 7C —> Physics 7D —> etc

When you sign up for SPOP you have the option of signing up for the placement exams as well.

Ah, I see. Well I did take AP Physics B, and BARELY passed with a 3 (surprised myself). Didn’t have the best teacher in the world either (though we did go over more than just mechanics, lol). So yeah, I think I’ll just stick with Physics 2.

I wonder if I’ll even need that much Physics for my Computer Engineering major. I could only see the Electric part of Physics applying to my major.

It’s mostly about vectors, not much about kinetics. Try to pass it so you don’t have to go thru Physics 2.

Are you certain Dorkdorkdork? Because if you are then I definitely will consider taking the Physics 7C exam to bypass Physics 2.

Whats on the exam besides vectors? I already some vectors and took algebra/trig based physics (only overed a bit of mechanics). Should I take the exam? I want to start studying.
Thanks in Advanced!!! :)
