Hi! I'm transferring to UC Davis next fall as a physics major. I completed all the major prereqs except the Physics series. On assist.org, it lists that the Physics I am taking this semester will not cover Physics 9A by itself. I need the entire physics series to cover the entire Physics 9 series at Davis. I talked to the UC Davis physics representative on this. She said since my math grades were pretty strong that I could take the Physics honor courses. So my question is.. should I drop the physics class and take the entire physics series at Davis? Will this jeopardize my admission chances because I dont have a Physics course even though im a Physics major? My reasoning would be that since Physics isnt impacted it should matter. If I end up do taking the first semester of Physics, how would it articulate, if at all?!

Given that you ARE a physics major, i would assume you need physics courses to at least look competitive. I’m not sure though so if anyone can correct me, please do.

You should really take as many physics classes as you can before transferring. At least Mechanics and E&M should be done at your CC, and then you can just finish the rest of the series at UCD. You’d have to take Modern Physics (9D) there anyways since there’s no equivalent course at any CC that I know of.
