Is it enough to take AP Physics B in high school and use that to cover the Physics prerequisites for med school, given that the college gives 1 credit for a 5 on Physics B? I know that a min. of 1 yr of college Physics is necessary to apply to med school but I dont' know if i should take AP Physics B or C.

And if a college gives only 1/2 credit for AP Physics C but 1 credit for Physics B, which one is worth my time to take?

NOBODY knows this? Come on ...

Most med schools do not accept AP credit (and by most I mean like all but 5... I think), though taking a higher level course will usually suffice. (ie, placing out of intro physics but taking 2 semesters of higher level physics)

Either way, I think that taking an AP level class and then not placing out of the introductory class in college is a good idea. Usually, the college course is harder and more in-depth; and your AP class gives you a great foundation for it. Additionally, it'll help you get an easier A... which as a premed, is a good thing.

Well I know that only 1 year of physics is the prerequisite for medical school so, to make it slightly easier on myself, should I just take AP Physics B (and assuming I get a 5) and then another full year of physics in college?

Yeah, that would be a sound plan.

So do med schools even care if you take advanced classes as an undergrad? Like will they care that I'm not challenging myself by taking an intro physics classes in college if I aced AP Physics B or C?

Guess I have my plan for physics covered then!

Be warned that some colleges will not permit you to retake classes you have AP Credit in.

the best thing to do is to pick and choose the ap scores you want to send. Don't choose the option of sending all your scores together. At my college, I was placed out of an english class, and am now still trying to get back into it.

Can you do that? Back in the day (six years ago), you couldn't.

i think most colleges won't force you to place out of a class even if you send the score

1.) Huh. There it is. You're right.

2.) Well, I know some public schools do.

This is what i did for my senior year physic.
I took AP Physics B at my school and took the AP physics C exam. This will be more beneficial in the long run for you at college, because College Physics has topics from both exams- Electricity/ Magneticism from C and thermo, optics, fluids from B.
