Physics Regents

I have taken and passed both living environment and chemistry regents which is already enough for an advanced regents diploma. I have asked my guidance counselor and she says it is fine if I just don’t show up that day for physics regents and I can still graduate and everything. However, my only concern is how college is going to think about that. If I have to take it, I am sure that I will have a low grade or maybe even fail. Is it better to get a low grade than not taking it at all? I also don’t know where I will be going to college, out of state can also be possible. Would not taking the physics regents when I finished the class affect my admission to college?

The physics regents is one of the most difficult so even SUNY schools are probably not surprised if students don’t do well. That said, I don’t think just not showing up for a regents is a good idea.

It is not a good idea to not show up for the physics regents. Are there any review classes you could attend? Additionally… some teachers factor the regents into the final grade in the class.

Talk to your teacher. In some schools the regents counts as the final and not showing up could very negatively impact your grade. And the SUNY schools do value the Regents exams more than private/OOS colleges. I would study hard for it and take the exam. Taking a review class as suggested above would be an excellent idea.

Taking the regents or not does not have any impact on my grade.
