Physics-to take or not to take?

I don't know if I should attempt Physics my senior year. Although it is a regular class, from what I've heard, it's a pretty rigorous class. It's taught by the same teacher who teaches Calc, which was and is still insanely hard. I'm planning on majoring in Bio or something of the sort. Is it worth the risk?

Take it---it's interesting stuff (and as my loving D and H say, physics is life!). !st physics (especially non-AP) doesn't rely on calculus. If you're interested in majoring in a science, taking a regular level Physics in h.s. may help you decide whether to take any more in college, too.

i would say that if there's isn't another academic class that you would want to take over physics, then just take physics :)

^^^ I agree. I don't believe thaat you should be pressured into it just because its "a hard class." I think that if there's a class you find more intresting take it. I'm in physics honors and I found it quite dull (my perspective).

Don't take it. It'll ruin your life. It ruined my life.

lol, (futurenyustudent) but yeah, if ur planning on majoring in bio, i don't think that physics is necessary unless you want to explore all the different opportunities of the science realm
i would also base ur decision on how busy u'll be next year (classes, ecs, college apps, job, friends, etc)

So I'm also planning on taking 3 other APs and 1 honors language senior year and marine bio, definitely not cruising through senior year... apps wise, I'm probably UC bound. Would not taking physics affect admissions to certain colleges? my alternative to physics is field bio/ biotech which aren't exactly UC approved

hmm, if you really want to take bio/biotech, then you should cuz on ur UC apps next year, they'll ask you to pick ur 1st and 2nd choice major and if u put "bio" as ur first choice and another subset of bio as ur second choice, the admissions officers might raise their eyebrows as to y u chose to take physics senior year if bio/biotech was offered at ur school....it should just be about what u want to take

I hate physics, but for some reason I'm doing pretty well in the class, I say go for it. If you absolutely hate it, then drop it.

Ok, thanks for the input!

since the class isnt honors or AP..then its weighted as a regular class so if you want to take another class that interests you then go for it but be aware that physics involves a lot of math...good luck
