Some of the teachers, and the guidance counselor, at my school are stressing physics as an important class. I am going to be a poli-sci major and do nothing related to math or science. I have 4 APs for junior year and 4-5 for senior year. Will not taking physics hurt my chances at getting into college (LACs mainly)?

I don't think so. As long as you have biology and chemistry, preferably one at AP level, you should be fine for any school (for humanities). :)

You should take A.P. Physics, i really enjoyed it!

i would like to know that too. my dad who is an electrical engineer told me last year (sophmore year) that i should take physics in 11th grade (which i am in right now for 20 more days) instead of AP chem. he said that i should take it b/c i want to major in computer science b/c physics has alot to do with cs rather than ap chem. now i am little worried that not challenging myself with an extra ap could hurt my chances at top UCs. but i will be taking ap physics next year....even though i could have done ap chem in 11th and ap physics in 12th without taking regular physics. sorry for not answering ur question but i am/was in the same situation as u even though i will major in something more science oriented than u.

BTW i have now reached my 200 post mark!!! when do i become a "member" and not "junior member"

300 posts, Grad'06. I think.

take AP Physics or physics. Very VERY interesting thing you shall learn.

will one ap science( physics) and two ap maths (calc ab and stats) in high school be okay for uci/ucsb/ucsd? chem and bio are also offered but i am not really into that stuff.

^ duh. dood..follow what you like

So far for science i've had: Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, and AP Environmental Science

No school requires AP physics. AP Environmental Science isn't really looked upon as one of the core science subjects though (although it's still looked highly upon as a class). LACs probably won't care too much, but you might want to take a second year (AP) of either physics, bio, or chem. A lot of schools like to see two years of at least one of the sciences.

At my school, you can't graduate if you haven't taken a physics course.

Personally, I hated AP Physics. I was so glad when 11th grade came to an end. I still have recurring nightmares.

Physics is one of the coolest basic sciences out there IMO.
