Physiology Advice

I will be taking Human Physiology next term as a supplemental course before I take MCATs. And I really want to understand it. The thing is, my class will be essay format, where initial information will be given and the outcome must be described, not the typical multiple choice. We will be using Guyton's Textbook of Medical Physiology (I hope some of you med students are familiar with it). Are there any supplemental texts you can advise or any methods/suggestions to really excel at this subject? I have been hearing physiology books from Linda Costanza are good, but I think they're out of my scope.

Costanzo is about as simplified as it gets. I don’t know what would be within your scope.

Oh, I thought it was more of USMLE prep. I was more interested in her case studies and problems.

People do use it for USMLE prep. But, it’s pretty simplified (hence, why people use it).

A separate physiology course is not necessary for the MCAT. So, don’t take the course just for the test. Of course, if you have other reasons, that’s different.

Yea, it turned out it could count for my bio elective. And I have special interest because the professor is my research professor.
