Piano players.

I had bi-weekly lessons ever since junior year began because I was just way too busy. When the time came for competitions and auditions, I switched back to weekly lessons. KMK, do you live in NorCal or SoCal? If you live in the Bay Area, there are a lot of opportunities out there for you (US Open Music, MTAC State Piano Solo & Concerto, CAPMT Honors Auditions, MTAC Certificate of Merit, CAPMT Bartok & Contemporary Music Festival, San Francisco Chopin, International Russian Music). I'm not sure where your music level ranges, so I just threw in a bunch of novice, intermediate, and advanced competitions in there. Some of those events are available throughout the state, obviously. Feel free to PM me if you want to know more information.

That's my favorite piece, too, sheldon! Haha... crashing climax. I guess you can call it that. Thanks to Liszt, I became a California State Panel finalist.

If anyone has any music clips, please message me! I'd love to hear your piano playing.

I took 6 years of piano. I was extremely terrible. two teachers refused to teach me anymore. I finally quit. my parents gave the piano away a couple weeks ago.

I've been playing for nine years, almost ten, but I only started taking it seriously this year. I'm currently working on Bach's Inventions because they're fun to play. I finished taking lessons a month ago.

I don't practice anymore. I play.

Lately I'm been playing more songs that are for entertainment purposes at a party or just with friends. You know something that they know that impresses as well. Does anybody have piano music on their computer that they could send me? If anyone has Boston by Augustana or How to Save a Life by the The Fray I would really appreciate it if you could send it to me. My email is cozeanw@yahoo.com

winter wind is 25/11

..

walks away from thread quietly

I've been playing the piano for 14 years. I still practice an hour and a half every day. I am currently learning the Rach 3 and have just recently performed Rach 2. I'm targetting to learn the Rachmaninoff's Third in two months.

Wow. You really DO like Rach.

I feel so stupid- I've played for nine years and am only on Bach's Invention no.1- is that okay? I want to be NYSSMA Level Six for next year (junior). Is this okay progress, considering that I hardly practice? I'm going to practice a great deal more next year to improve, but I feel lousy everytime I play because I always feel that I am never good enough. Help me feel more confident!

yeah... i do like rachmaninoff. He's an incredible romantic composer. I love the complexity of his music and the different voices that he gives each finger.

katia11, don't worry. I've been playing for almost 10, and I just finished learning that piece.

I'll practice like an hour or so a day. I'm not really 'hardcore' into piano. I'm more of a recreational pianist.

lol i wish i could practice piano more. but with like all the high school/AP work I just like...stop plaaying. sometimes i feel really bad about it but other times, when im practicing im thinking "why am i practicing...i have a million things to do" :sigh: anyway im playing:

Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto
Debussy Preludes
Chopin Ballade/Polonaise
Kapustin Etudes
Bach..(ew)
Beethoven Waldstein Sonata
Liszt Spanish Rhapsody

I quit lessons a few months ago, but I was never really seriously into it. I only played for close to three years. I like playing, but I'm not that good and I didn't have time because I was playing sports. I think the last decent piece I played was Tchaikovsky's Andante and Scott Joplin's The Entertainer. I want to play Maple Leaf Rag and Mozart's Sonata in C. Maybe I'll have time for that this summer.

Hmm...well, i'm a piano major at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division. I won't tell you the specifices but I play

Mendelsohn- Song Without Words
Scarlatti-Sonatas
Clementi- Sonata
Maykapar- Sonata
and some french composer songs from the impressionist time period. I am going to learn Beethoven Etudes soon for my fingers.

Beethoven wrote Etudes?

Anyway, I admire and respect anyone who plays Clementi! He's possibly in second place as "master of the sonata form" (right after Beethoven), and yet he's ignored.

i practice like 2 hours a day..
im surenntly working on a numbe rof pieces
Fantasie Impromptu -CHopin
Nocturne in D flat- Chopin
Revoltuionary Etude-Chopin
Clair de Lune -Debussy

ikwame, wow, fantasie impromptu? Impressive!

Right now I'm working on Bach's 3 part inventions

I don't really practice a set amount of time each day. Some weeks I'll get the motivation to play for a few hours each day, and other weeks go by where I won't even come close to touching my piano. I think it's a love/hate relationship.

mandizz..it took me forever to play it.. trust me... and im still shaky and most parts.. but yes its the sae thing over and over agin if you think about it.......
