Piano players.

..any SDC membahz here? 8)

What's SDC?

I've been playing piano for 10 years. I do lots of classical works and a few contemporary ones of my choice, and do a few competitions. Of course, I kinda spazzed out during one competition and have been a bit turned off by them ever since. I still practice almost every day though, it's been instilled in me from youth.

Currently I'm practicing Czerny and some Bach. I was learning a Chopin piece but never finished it, because it's gorgeous to listen to but not to practice.

I think SDC stands for Swingers Date Club, but I don't know how that would pertain to this thread.

Are any of you piano players coming to the SMI Piano Camp at Bowling Green (ohio) next week!?

No, but I'll be down there orientation!

I'm working on Beethoven piano Sonata no.10, Bach Fugue no. 18 WTC Book I, and Chopin Etude no.9.

I've got:

Allemande- Beethoven
Prelude in C Minor- Clementi
Spanish Dance- Bilotti
Ballad (Opus 100, no. 15)- Burgmuller
Alla Turca- Mozart

Should be practicing but.. -.-;

Currently working on:

Mozart: Piano Sonata K. 333
Chopin: Ballade No. 2
Liszt: Transcendental Etude No. 10
Ravel: Jeux d' Eau

and lots of chamber music.
I don't get to practice much (barely at all) during the week but I have take 2hr lessons multiple times a week (depending on how close I am to my next performance/evaluation/masterclass, etc. etc, ) Weekends, I try to get in 3+ hours a day when I have a chance to. I know this is a horrible practice schedule :-/

When I sit down and practice, I play for at least a half hour. This year, I've mastered Comptine D'Un Autre and I'm currently working on La Valse D'Amelie and How to Save a Life. I've also learned one of Mozart's sonatinas (I think a sonatina) and A Thousand Miles. I've also been sight-reading a lot of Jason Robert Brown and other random Broadway pieces. I play piano for fun though, definitely more of a hobby than anything else. I'm a lot more serious about my singing.

Funny, comptinedunautre, how I was just going to ask you about your username and whether it had anything to do with Amelie when I saw that you'd posted in this thread. The two you mentioned are my favorite pieces from the soundtrack. (Where'd you get the sheet music? Were you able to download it for free on the internet?)

I'm such an un-dedicated piano player. I stopped taking lessons about a year ago after junior year got too busy, but I've been keeping up with it (mostly) on my own. The bad thing about not having at teacher is that I'm not forced to stick to one piece and practice it till it's good. I dabble around a lot. Right now, I'm on a Debussy fix.

Anyone know where to get free, good sheet music online or am I just dreaming?

I downloaded them from musicnotes.com for about $4 each. I use musicnotes.com all the time for my sheet music needs because you can buy individual pieces and print them from your computer.

played until 6th or 7th grade, and then quit until this past summer, now I just play for fun (no lessons) and play stuff I listen to.

I am currently obsessed with all of Chopin's Nocturnes.

Jakor, if you're talking about classical music, I have a good site: http://www.sheetmusicarchive.net/. It has music from a variety of composers. The catch is that you can only download two files a day to keep the traffic low.

Awhile ago, I also came upon a sheet music exchange site, but I don't have the URL for that one.

Thanks demeter!

Wow, didn't know there were so many pianists on this site.

Anyways, I practice only an hour a day. I'm working on:
Ravel- Jeux D'eau
Beethoven- Sonata "Appassionata" op.57
I recently finished some Ginastera, Chopin and some other stuff for an evaluation and will playing in my first competition next month!

hans gregor nazzu's-king of 5th :)

virtuoso, you're playing Jeux D'eau too?!
I'm still reading it and it's definitely the hardest thing I've ever had programmed! Any tips?
