Pick a good college for me please

Here are my stats:

ACT: 26
SAT 1: 1770
SAT 2: 550 chem 600 math 2 730 math 1
AP: only 2 in all 4 yrs
Rank: 50/223
UW GPA: 3.9/4
W GPA: 4.3/4.8
Awards: Congressional Recognition, Many other state and national level governmental awards
Extracurricular acts: NHS, made really innovative plane, internship as a IT guy, tutoring at places, teaching in third world countries
Hooks: moved to u.s 5 yrs ago, financial probs all the way, poverty, first gen college, tons of adversity (are these even hooks?)

As seen, nothing really outstanding. I wanna major in engineering (aviation) can someone match a school that has a good engineering program with my profile? I know you arent admission officers so I am not gonna solely apply to the schools you guys pick, I am still gonna apply to my dream schools (Stanford<3 - lol who am I kidding? ) and try my luck

So again can someone suggest me a good school with an aerospace engineering program?

I know this won’t directly answer your question, but how are your grades in math classes?

I have had 1 C in Algebra 1 (1st sem. got it upto a high A for second) in Freshman year and B (again only for 1st sem and an A in second) in geometry in Sophomore yr but other than that its always straight A’s

My school is highly competitve…num. 1 in the state, among the top 50 hs’s in the nation…oh I am also in the recruiting committee for my school…as in I conduct interview with incoming freshman and admit them (so ironic as for the position I am in right now)

With your stats you should look at state schools that offer engineering degrees because your ACT score is low and Your classes are not that rigorous for top schools

Look at your public flagship. Sorrow to say that you’re stats just aren’t competitive for top engineering schools.

Thank you for your feedback…Anything else? What about something like Embry-riddle? am i underqualified for that too?

Polytechnic Institute of New York University, Boston University might be worth a try. However please verify that they have the exact major you are looking for. Good luck.

^ Unfortunately neither of them have aerospace engineering as far as I know.

TieneHopes, what state do you live in?

Nevada…one of the worst for education T.T

None of the colleges here have an aerospace program…T.T I guess I might as well not go to college and try to get an odd job or something.

Made a mistake in middle school (lol) which screwed me for life i guess haha xD

Do you have a green card or are you an international?

If you don’t have a green card, then financial aid will be more difficult.

Your other problem is that your stats aren’t high enough for the schools that give the best aid.

Why do you have to major in aerospace engineering? If you’re willing to just “get a job” and not go to college, then you should be willing to adjust your engineering area to one that is in your state. That makes more sense than just skipping college.

What kind of career did you have in mind? It’s very likely that another area of engineering would also work…like MechE or EE

I think you still have a shot at some decent engineering programs. I’d definitely recommend applying to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (if money’s not an issue). Obviously I’m biased because I go there, lol but everyone who goes here LOVES it.
And it’s highly ranked for just about every academic program you can think of, so even if you ever decide to switch out of engineering, you’d still have a whole bunch of good options.

I doubt he has a really good chance at Michigan and Michigan is really expensive for out-of-staters also.

I am a u.s citizen.

I will try anyway because I get free applications because of my family income (income of less than 15k a year)

and most of the good schools including university of michigan in ann arbor offer need-based fin. aid and I believe will cover most of my fees.

and why I need aerospace engineering? because I absolutely love that and if I am gonna do something as a profession for all my life, I might as well do something i love. Cant just do a profession for money.

Thank you for the feedback guys…

No, Michigan does not meet need and gives little aid to out of state students.

Don’t confuse offering need based aid and giving it to all. The schools that offer everyone need based aid are the very top colleges. The vast majority of schools can’t meet everyone’s need, and typically give aid to the kids with very high stats for their school, athletes and those that provide diversity.

What’s your ethnicity!

The search for colleges you can get into with aid is often frustrating. Just keep doing your homework and you’ll find some. It might be a CC for two years nor a state school that doesn’t have your major. But if you get good grades you can transfer to one that does. This isn’t easy, but it’s worth the effort.

Well I was accepted to Purdue today…Rolling Admissions

That is a really good school… I am sorry happy

Thank you guys!!!

I was actually going to come to say Purdue 0_o

Welp congrats on being accepted by the Boilermakers, and good luck :D

Boilermarkers? What does that mean?

Thank you

Why don’t you join the Air Force or check out Air Force ROTC?
