Pick up classes! Help!

HEY I am a new international student and I will go to cal for fall 2011. Since I can't attend CALSO, I'm wondering how can I pick up courses? Any websites I can use? I have logged into NINJA COUESES AND RATEMYPROFESSOR but I still don't have a clue about how to choose the right courses for me. Is there any general guidance I can refer to?

Thanks a lot!!!!!

What is your intended major? You can go to the [catalog and look up your intended major for its list of requirements and a pointer to the department’s web site.

You may also want to check your college’s requirements. For example:

College”>http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/requirement/summary.html]College of Letters and Science](http://sis.berkeley.edu/gc/curricula.html)
[College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/new-students/information-for-new-freshman.html)

Many students take [Reading and Composition](Reading & Composition | L&S Advising) and Math courses early. However which ones you should take, if any are needed, depend on your college and major, and whether you have AP credit that fulfills part of any needed requirements.

You can also use https://www.courserank.com/berkeley/main</a> to choose classes.

If you are in L&S, for example, have you gone through this orientation yet? [L&S New Student Orientation](http://ls-orientation.berkeley.edu/ws/)

Read the handbooks, the college (e.g CNR, L&S) websites, and the departmental websites of your tentative major choices. Then, ask questions here.
