When chosing a major for OSU, will that play a role in admissions? So i guess i am asking is the business school harder to get into than lets say Arts and Sciences when you put it down on the app? Or are they all the same and not considered in admissions?

thanks a lot!

anyone out there that can help answer??

bump!

Don't know about OSU in particular...
In general, which major you pick is not a factor in admissions, because most people will change their major multiple times during the course of their undergrad career.

That said, some schools require you to apply to a particular college (e.g. College of Arts and Science, School of Engineering, School of Business, etc), and you are admitted to that particular college. In those cases, which school you pick will affect your admissions. The major you pick within that school though, will not affect your admissions.

Keep in mind that it can be difficult to transfer between colleges within the same university, so don't try to "back-door" your way in to a more difficult college (e.g. If you know School of Business is harder than CAS, then you apply to CAS and later try to transfer to the School of Business)

got cha. ya so sorry i guess i should refrase my question. Is the business school harder to get into than CAS at Ohio St? Meaning which one you put on your app.. does it affect admissions?

thanks! bump..

Essentially what CDN_dancer said. So long as you don't choose a major from a different school, it's the same.

If you put down the "chemical engineering" major as opposed to the "chemistry" major, your chances go down.

the two majors i am trying to decide between are from different schools. One is marketing and the other is economics... anyone know if my chances would go down picking marketing bc its in the business school?

thanks, bump
