Hello! I have been thinking about picking a major and minor for college. I don’t exactly know what job I want in the future but I want to do something with sports and graphic design. I’ve seen there are sports graphic designer jobs. But would I major in college? Thanks so much!
Do you know what college you’re going to? If you’ve already decided, it’d be useful to look into what majors they offer.
If not, I think it’s important to keep in mind that you don’t need to have decided on a major going into college. You don’t need to declare until later on, so university studies is always an option and a good way to try a lot of things out.
It also depends on what you want to do. If you are interested in marketing sports teams such as through making advertisements and stuff, majoring in graphic design with a minor in sports marketing could be useful.
You don’t necessarily have to do anything with sports in college just to get a sports graphic designer job. Major in graphic design and apply for internships with sports companies (even if it’s just something small like sports apparel). Really, sports are just another company looking for graphic designers, so focus on that.
But like I said, don’t worry about picking a major right now. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to meet with advisors once you’re in college that will have a lot more expertise!
