Picking a Stafford Lender...

I am completing a Stafford Loan Request Form for my school and it asks to pick a lender. Have you guys had any experience with the following lenders?

-ALL Student Loan corp.
-Nellie Mae
-Student Loan Xpress
-Citibank
-Chela Education Financing

or is it best to go with the schools credit union if they have one?

To me, all of the loans look pretty much the same (and all the above lenders are recommended by the university) but is one company more reputable / better then the other?

I've seen this question before re: lender choices. DS did not have a choice at all for his Stafford lender. He indicated he was accepting the loan, signed the master promissory note online, and poof, he had the loan. We got no choice of lender (Boston University). Do a lot of other schools offer a choice of lenders?

I believe you can find your own lender (say your own credit union), decline the school's loan, the school verifies your status to your preferred lender and accepts and disperses the $.
We were too naive to do this with #1, with # 2 the school asked us to obtain a lender, now we know what to do for #3!

So...would it be a good idea (safe bet) to go with the schools credit union?
