Picking Classes at UCB/UCLA/UCSB/UCD

Does anyone know when we can start signing up for Fall 2008 classes at UCB, UCLA, UCSB, and/or UCD? It's good that we have until June 1st or 2nd to submit the SIR, but I'm worried that all the classes will be full by then.

At Orientation- UCLA.

I believe when you go to orientation, you talk to a counselor and pick classes then. Maybe you’ll get some random classes, but you’ll probably want to keep your first quarter/semester easy anyway.

Easy HA! Doesn’t sound like berkeley/UCLA caliber talk to me. Whatever happened to the thrill of overloading?! The constant pressure of midterms and/or reports puts hair on your chest! Like a man!

anyways I thought everything is done online…

if i had hair on my chest, i’d wax that sucker right off.

i think you can see a list of the classes online… but i’m fairly sure that you have to go see a counselor every so often, to make sure that you’re on the right track.

Hair = manly

Counselors = unmanly

im also worried that the classes that I want to take will be full…

for Berkeley
at CalSo (orientation) at the end of the day you will get a code to log online and sign up for phase one classes so definately do not miss CalSo, you’ll be limited to 6 units until phase II starts (at a later date). They do that so that every registered student can get at least one of the classes they really want.

From what my friends at UCLA told me it was way different there for enrollment and much more difficult to get classes they needed. That was the main complaint last year actually. They said they drew playing cards??? kinda bizzare, hopefully they have changed that.

So it’s mandatory to go to the orientation to pick classes? In that case, I might have to schedule some trips very soon.

Anyone feeling optimistic about getting the classes they want? I just asked someone who went to UCSB a few years ago and he said that ALL his classes were full when he tried to sign up for them at orientation.

Do you know around what time is CALSO, since i plan to fly out of state.

If you are Econ major and plan to have orientation on August, prepare for some fierce race for class sign up during the orientation for the last spots available in Econ 11 and 41. They WILL fill up… FAST.

That’s why you always want to take those classes during Summer. LOT easier, less people, and unlimited space for sign-ups.

Can we take classes this summer if we’re admitted for the Fall?

Maybe it’s just me, but after trying to deal with a CC counselor, I’m reluctant to even think about talking to any counselor

nope, not just you. after talking to a CC counselor who misinformed me and led me to take a Spanish class (though I took spanish for 4 years in HS). The counselor even read my transcript and should of clearly seen “Spanish 1, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, Spanish 4” on it.

Which led me to get a professor that incorrectly computed my score for a Spanish 1 class. Thus, in turn, landing me a “D” for a subject that I have taken for 2 years in middle school and 4 years in HS. Which dropped me from the honors program, which made it impossible for me to complete TAP. Also leading me to have to refute the grade and go before a Dean and make my case. However, we were unable to locate the professor and then the deadline to change my grade has passed and I was stuck with a D on my transcript until I could repeat the course in the coming Fall. Which ultimately rose my GPA by 0.4 points right before I sent in my applications.

All because of a stupid CC counselor.
