Picking Courses

I haven't been able to pick courses yet (incoming students can't pick until August 5th at my school), so I figured I'd ask for advice.
Given what I have to take for my major I'd have two back to back German classes (co requisites), followed by and hour and a half break, then a French class on Mondays and Wednesdays and a 10am Linguistics class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I need one more class in order to graduate in four years, and was thinking of taking Journalism. However, it is once a week for three hours, starting at 7pm. Is it worth it to take the class, or should I look into a different class? Most of the other lower level English classes all sound like repeats of AP English, and I might have been given credit for them from my AP scores, but I won't know until August 5th.

If that’s the class that sounds the most fun to you, definitely go for it! I’ve taken a few classes that meet once a week for 3 hours, and I’ve really liked most of them - the only thing is it can be a bummer if you end up not loving the class that much because then you’re stuck in a class you don’t enjoy for a long time. I’d ask around and/or look online for professor reviews to make sure people enjoy the class.

Three hours is a long time, especially if you’re not a night owl and your class gets out at 10 pm.

I would wait and talk to a counsellor before planning out your schedule- I made the mistake of doing that when I first transferred and my semester ended up being NOTHING like the one I initially planned.

If Journalism is what you want to take, then I would say do it. The 3 hours is only once a week anyway.
