What kind of picture do we need to send for this? Formal (suit/tie) or just a casual one?

Is the ID picture updated yearly?

People do both. My advice: send one that makes you look hot. ;) The picture book isn't as useful now that the facebook website exists, but it's still fun to look through the paper one and try to pick out people you think would be cool.

If you're planning to use your facebook photo for your ID, I'd suggest a more casual one so that obnoxious food-place employees don't make snide remarks about you cleaning up well every time you want to buy a burrito or a sandwich.

You can update your ID picture yearly if you want, although it costs $15 to get a new ID if your original one still exists. Most of my friends still have their original pictures on their IDs, as do I. I like it. I look very young.

Do you have to carry your ID card around everywhere? Can you get into your dorm without it?

sure you can get into your dorm w/o it. just not necessarily by yourself or by legal means or by the front door.

...but you'll probably want to carry your ID around at all times anyway, at least if you like to eat food.

I need my ID to get into my UROP lab as well as my dorm.

so yeah, I guess we all will have to carry ID's around.

I second the "Give them a hot picture" idea.

I clean up pretty well, but most of the time I'm a slob, so people usually do a double take when they see my ID (it's my senior picture). I'm a lot hotter in it than I am daily. A lot.

could one of you post or pm your picture to me? i am still very confused over exactly how formal or how casual this is supposed to be.

what? no!

it's a bloody picture. figure it out for yourself. I'm cross-eyed and butt-ugly in mine. take how important you think this is and subtract like a million, then go worry about the children or global warming or something.

azngirl06, Just a nice headshot is all you need, You will see everything from formal attire to Tees. There is no required dress code, just a photo that you like.

Did anyone notice that we're suppose to pick up the facebook thingy on August the 18? How the **** is that going to work?

FPOP people should be arriving around then, rt?

It will be in your packet when you arrive for orientation.

lol...sorry about that. it's just that my high school uses a facebook as well and it's pretty intense. the picture is also used for our ids and it's actually become a pretty big deal of us.

a lot of things are a big deal in high school :)

yeah, the message describing when/where to pick them up says to drop by 7-103 on the 18th.
The earliest FPOP starts on the 19th (DEAPS), and involves being not-at-MIT.
