Picture in Optional Essay??

If I have enough space after writing my optional essay (staying within the word limit of course), do you think it would be acceptable to include a photo at the bottom? The topic pertains to collecting btw

Thanks :)

If it’s appropriate to the topic, why not?

I actually was considering adding a picture, but I wasn’t sure how adcom would receive it (i.e. disregard the picture entirely?).

FWIW: When my daughter applied to Harvard, she uploaded a single-page pdf with 5 or 6 photos of her doing cheerleading stunts, including one of her doing a pirouette on the raised palm of a guy’s hand. Sometimes photos can capture talent in a way words cannot.

The topic pertains to collecting? Is this an image of a prized possession or of a collection? I think images are best used to show your achievements, not illustrate your writing. So if you’re trying to show your talent as a photographer, dancer, comic book artist, whatever, images/recordings are necessary. But I would be skeptical about a photo of a collection, or of an object in a collection. You don’t want it to look like you are avoiding the hard work of writing.

@boxofdonuts “staying within the word limit”? What word limit?
